Architecture Photography

Saturday 17 May
Grange Creek - 10am - 2 Hours
Brian Gumo
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Title or Location: All Saint?s Chapel on the campus of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
All Saints? Chapel is perhaps the best example of the late Gothic Revival architecture in Tennessee. Although planning began in the 1850s, the chapel was completed in two phases between 1904 and 1959.

Title or Location: From Pat?s Summit on top of Jasper Mountain in Tennessee.
Visited Tennessee recently and had the opportunity to spend some time in the Jasper Highlands development on top of Jasper Mountain. There is a beautiful over look area that?s called Pat?s summit and I was so lucky to observe this AMAZING sunset. The bottom of the clouds had such a perfect line giving way to the ?window? of color happening beneath. Was truly magical and I feel blessed to have witnessed it. The skies were cloudy and grey all afternoon and I almost didn?t go out to shoot sunset. I?m glad I decided to try because the sky put on an amazing show that evening.

I love exploring Toronto, where I've been living for a while now, with a camera, or more often just with a mobile phone. And looking for unusual angles. This place in the center of downtown on King Street always looks different depending on the weather, time of day, wind... This time I was shooting late in the evening and waiting for the flag to straighten out.Shot on a Samsung s21 mobile phone, edited in an editor Snapseed/

Title or Location: at my house in Oconee County outside of Athens, Georgia
This shot was taken along with 3000 others images on my first ever photo shoot during Covid. I hired a model I had seen and had come to do pool shots with another Photographer and he suggested I hire her and conceptualize the shoot. I?m not a professional and had no props but I bought some fabric and I used my leaf blower to make that effect. I periodically go back to those pictures and rework them with my iPhone apps for varying effects. You can see more of my work on Instagram. That day creat

Thank you for considering my photo for Photo of the Week! I have a number of bottle brush trees in my back yard, and birds love the blossoms when they bloom in the Spring. I usually see numerous hummingbirds and sparrows, but I saw this gorgeous bird one afternoon resting in the branches. I was able to get a couple of shots off before it flew away.
